Brian Lee is an 8-year-old boy in 3rd grade who attends Fox Hill Elementary School in Burlington. Brian has always been an energetic and outgoing boy who loved to attend Taekwondo classes. In February of 2017, Brian had brain surgery at Tufts to remove a tumor. He then spent 3 months in a rehabilitation facility, and continues to have difficulty using the left side of his body. Brian had a second surgery in September of 2017 to remove his tonsils as they were causing him some difficulty with breathing. Brian suffers from a severe case of sleep apnea as one of the complications of his illness. He will be receiving chemotherapy for the next 18 months.

June 2nd 2017- Potluck Ladies Night

Thanks again to everyone in the community for all the support this year!

We have raised over $25,000 since September!!

Our next event is coming up- a Potluck Ladies Night on June 2nd at 7pm

27 Gloria Circle, Burlington MA

Please join us for a night of food and drinks in support of the Tagliamonte Family.

In September of last year, Julie Tagliamonte, a long time resident of Burlington, received the terrifying news that she had cancer. At 42 years of age, Julie was diagnosed with an aggressive form of invasive breast cancer. Treatment began quickly, and since that time, Julie has endured multiple rounds of chemotherapy, 2 surgeries, and will soon be starting radiation treatments. These past few months were complicated further when one of Julie’s young sons was hospitalized, requiring an emergency appendectomy. Following her diagnosis and their son’s surgery, Julie’s husband, Paul, was forced to take a leave from work to care for both Julie and their two young sons. Julie continues her daily fight with the love and support of her family and friends, but she still has a long way to go. Throughout the course of her treatment, Julie has suffered from multiple complications from the treatment itself which will require at least two additional major surgeries later this year.

We hope you will join us in supporting the Tagliamonte family.

For the Pot Luck, if your last name starts with, please bring (enough for 4-8 people):

A-L:  Wine or other beverage

Friday, November 4, 2016

At 7pm

American Legion of Burlington, 162 Winn Street, Burlington MA.

Please join us for a night of food and drinks in support of The Busa Family.

Leah Busa is a lifelong Burlington resident. At age 19 Leah was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and endured nine months of aggressive chemotherapy. After being in remission for 16 years Leah was again diagnosed with cancer, except this time it was metastatic cancer. She was accepted into a promising clinical trial but had to taken off of the trial as the side effects were too severe and life threatening. She has two young children who have had to watch their mom go through countless rounds of chemo and radiation and all of the terrible side effects, as well as clinical trials and numerous extended hospitalizations. Her husband, Rob, has missed an enormous amount of time from his job in order to take care of their children and be with Leah during her procedures and treatment which included heart surgery in September. The last few months have been particularly difficult for the Busa family as Leah has been in the hospital more than she has been home. Now cancer cells have been found in the fluid around her heart so she is getting ready to start chemotherapy to attempt to combat that.

We hope you will join us in supporting Leah and her family.

Due to the tremendous response in support of Leah we needed to find a larger venue than our usual house party therefore we are not doing our usual “pot luck” event.  Thank you so much to the American Legion for donating their space!

There will be a cash bar at the American Legion.
Womenade and other local establishments will provide of snacks and desserts for this event. Thank you to Wegmans, Roche Bros., True North, Sammy’s Deli, and Bistro 5 for their food donations!

We will be collecting cash and checks (made out to Leah Busa). If you prefer to donate gift cards, some suggestions are Visa gift cards, Wegmans and Target. Donations can be in any amount ($25 is the suggested amount, but any amount helps). If you can’t make the event and would still like donate please send gift cards or checks to Womenade, 7 Anna Road, Burlington MA 01803.

We look forward to seeing you at this event and thank you to everyone for your continued support!

Our First Event of the “School Year”

First, we would like to thank YOU for your support – everyone in our amazing community helped Womenade raise close to $21,000 and help 10 families in the past 12 months!! It was a record year for fundraising and we hope to help many more families this year.

Our THIRD ANNUAL event with the Primrose School of Burlington is scheduled for Saturday, September 24th from 2pm-4pm. This event is a Family Friendly Ice Cream Social (with music, face painting, bubbles, raffles, vendors and…ice cream!) and is being hosted by The Primrose School: 10 Greenleaf Way Burlington MA 01803.

This event will be in support of the Dellascio Family of Burlington. Ryan Dellascio was born with a rare brain disorder called Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum. It means the band of white matter connecting the two hemispheres in the brain failed to develop. As a result of this disorder, Ryan suffers from seizures, feeding difficulties (he needs to be fed through a feeding tube), and severe developmental delays, as well as recurring respiratory problems which has been the main cause for his repeated hospitalizations.
This summer has been particularly difficult for him and his family. He has been admitted to Boston Children’s Hospital 6 times and each time for at least 2 weeks, including his current stay right now. Throughout all of his journeys, he remains the happy little fighter he has always been.
The money that is raised would help with the financial strain of traveling back and forth to the hospital all the time. It will also help with anything the family may need to purchase, in the future, that will assist in his day-to-day life.
Ryan is 5 years old. He is going into Kindergarten at the LABBB Collaborative at Francis Wyman. His sister, Madelyn is 8 years old. She is going into the 3rd Grade at Pine Glen. She’s a very active, busy girl. She is a Burlington Pop Warner cheerleader and also does tumbling and dance classes. Ryan and Madelyn have a very special bond. He lights up anytime she’s around him. She always gets the biggest laughs out of him. She has had a very hard time adjusting to him being in the hospital most of the summer! She has missed him so much!

Suggested donation: $25 per family.
100% of donations will go to the Dellascio’s.

We hope to see you there!

Save the Dates!

We have partnered with 2 amazing organizations to bring you 2 family-friendly events over the next couple of months!

This is our 2nd year working with BHSA and the Burlington SheDevils. Last year, over $17,000 was raised at the event- and 20% of the proceeds went to Burlington Womenade! We were able to help 3 families with all of the proceeds last year and are looking forward to the hockey tournament on April 2,2016. There will be TONS of raffles as well as family friendly entertainment throughout the game.

We are excited to work with Primrose School of Burlington for our 3rd joint event. Primrose is hosting a children’s concert with Ben Rudnick on May 14, 2016 in honor of Molly Malone, a 15-year-old from Lynnfield who was recently diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma.

For anyone who will not be able to make it to the event, but would like to donate to Molly and her family, you can make checks out to: Nukhet Malone. Checks can be mailed to Burlington Womenade, 7 Anna Road, Burlington MA 01803.

Molly

Please share these events with family and friends who you think may be interested.

As always, we want to thank Burlington and surrounding communities for all of the support! We wouldn’t be here without all of you!
