COVID-19 Response Cont.

Thank you Jaimee Greitzer for this incredible idea!We will be working over the next few weeks to connect families who are able to offer support to families who could use support. While the identities of families will remain confidential, donors will know that they were able to get dinner delivered or a much needed item ordered.
Much like “adopting” a family over the holidays, we are collecting donations.
For example:
$10 could provide art supplies
$25 could provide clothing or other items
$50 could provide a dinner delivery,
etc.

Donations accepted via Venmo @Burlington-Womenade and PayPal (the YELLOW donate button on this page)

PLEASE SHARE THIS WITH LOCAL FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

COVID-19 Response

A message from the Womenade Board:

Hello friends and family,

As you know, our organization thrives on public and social gatherings to raise money for local families in need.  Since the outbreak of COVID-19, we find ourselves in a situation that we could not have predicted.

At this time, we are asking for your help.  We need to reach out to people, friends, family and acquaintances. We will be collecting donations online. We understand times are tough right now, so we are asking for any amount ($5, $10, $20).  If you are able to give, know that your donation will be going to a local family that is in need during this scary time. Donations can be made via Venmo (@Burlington-Womenade) or PayPal (www.burlingtonMAwomenade.org).

We have been working hard to stay in touch with other groups and town members to see what the needs are. Please help us by sharing the link to our Request for Support page (https://burlingtonmawomenade.wordpress.com/news/). Our hope is to be able to offer grants up to $250 for as long as we have funds to do so.

Thank you for your support. We are thinking of you all and are hopeful that everyone stays healthy and safe during this difficult time.

Much love,

Korey Barkley, Sharleen Davis, Nicole Dupuis, Amanda Holmes, Kelly Hoogeboom, Elizabeth Melo, Victoria Nguyen and Megan Worsham

Wine Tasting and Raffles!  Friday, May 31st from 7-9:30

Zach

Our next Ladies Night Out with a PURPOSE.

Total Wine & More will be hosting another wine tasting class for us! This event was so popular last time, it sold out in less than 2 weeks. This is our third event with Total Wine- you won’t want to miss it!

For this event we will be trying various wines from California, perfect for summer! There will be light appetizers and time to socialize before and after the class.

We will be raising funds to support Zachary Duong and his family.

Zachary is a high school freshman in Wilmington, MA. He has gone through so much in his short 15 years. He was born with a heart defect and had open heart surgery at 6 days old. At 18 months he was diagnosed with liver cancer and had his first liver transplant at 21 months of age.  Zachary was on a bypass machine at birth before his heart surgery and strong chemo drugs before his liver transplant, therefore, Zachary has lost a good amount of his hearing and has a cochlear implant and hearing aids.

Zach had a quiet couple of years then a year and half ago he started developing ascites, fluid around the abdomen. In June 2018, while trying to enjoy his 8th grade field trips, he was diagnosed with PTLD, Post Transplant Lymphoproliferative disease.

Zach was treated for Burkitts Lymphoma, a very fast moving cancer, and spent the whole Summer and most of Fall at Children’s Hospital Boston. He finished treatment in October and just recently was diagnosed with a relapse. This round of chemo is very strong and he has already been in the hospital since the middle of February with side effects and fevers. From what doctors are saying it is going to be a long road for him. A relapse is rare and needs to be treated aggressively.

Zach’s mom, Sheila (raised in Burlington), has been by his side every step of the way. Due to the prolonged stay at the hospital this time around, Sheila had to put her job on hold, and then remove herself from it entirely. Sheila is also away from her husband and Zach’s father, Cam, and brother, Max.  As you can imagine, this puts added stress into an already stressful time.

Your support of Zach and his family is greatly appreciated.

Total Wine & More has graciously offered to lower their wine class price to $5 per person (usual cost is $20-$25 per person). Your $45 donation will include that fee. $40 per person will go directly to Zach and his family.
