About

Womenade is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping families in need.  The idea came from a group of friends in Washington DC who wanted to organize a way to raise funds for families facing adversity without any overhead.  Since this first group was created in 2001, many other Womenade groups have been sprouting throughout the United States.

Burlington, MA Womenade was started in 2011.  Inspired by a Bedford Womenade event, the Burlington “chapter” was created as a way for women in the Burlington community to work together in order to support local families in crisis as well as to network and socialize with each other.

How Womenade Works

The group organizes 3-6 events each year. The events vary; some are hosted by local businesses and others are pot luck ladies nights out hosted by a local resident. Please contact us if you are interested in hosting an event at your business or home.

Each event is dedicated to a specific person or family in town who is struggling (whether it be due to economic hardship, illness, injury, death in the family, etc.).  Guests are asked to bring either a beverage, appetizer or dessert to share- as well as a check, cash or gift card to a local store to donate to the dedicated family.  The suggested amount for the gift card is about $25, but any amount is greatly appreciated.  Gift cards can come from any local store or restaurant that you think would be helpful for the family in need (Shaws, Trader Joe’s, and Target are some examples).  Then, the women enjoy their night out while also being able to help out a local family.  The idea is that a group of women are able to generate much more help than individuals alone.

Know Someone In Need?

Please help by contacting us if you know of a person or family in need.  Word of mouth truly is the best way for us to help others.

You girls are amazing. I would love to join the group at the next event. My daughter and nieces are also interested in finding out how this works so I’m going to invite them also.
