11-year-old Sophia lost her mom after a long battle with metastatic breast cancer in April 2021. She lives with her dad in Burlington and attends Marshall Simonds Middle School. We were hoping to be able to hold an in person event for Sophia, but COVID has made that very difficult. So, we are hosting a Virtual Paint Night in January (and another Ring Raffle, made possible by Princess Diamonds, in February- more information on that coming soon).
Carmen was a huge supporter of Womenade, and she served on the board before her diagnosis. Carmen was an artist as well as a lover of all types of art. Sophia is artistic just like her mom, so this event seemed like a perfect way to honor Carmen’s memory while simultaneously offering support to her little girl. This event is open to people of all ages! Sophia chose the painting herself:
